When I left the area nearly 20 years ago, Tacos El Norte in Lake Zurich was, without question, my favorite Mexican “joint.” Now that I’m back and working as a Personal Chef based in Long Grove, not only can I, thankfully, enjoy their delicious burrito’s, but I can spread the news of their continued success and fabulous food through my blog! Here goes…
When my husband and I took the kids for a drive down memory lane, we noticed the familiar Tacos El Norte sign in the same place on Rand Rd. that it had always been we knew we had to stop in and check things out. Everything looked exactly as it did back in the day, smelled just as delicious too, so we stayed.
We sampled several menu items including Steak Burito Suisa, Chicken & Steak Fajita’s my favorite, Chili Rellenos and of course, chips, salsa and guacamole. Rather than getting into the nitty gritty details of each dish, I’ll leave it at this: Everything was great, all of the sauces and salsa’s tasted fresh, nothing was greasy or too salty and the chips were crisp and warm. Portions were generous, but not crazy huge, prices were moderate and the service was prompt and friendly.
So when you hear that old saying about not being able to go back, remember Taco’s El Norte in Lake Zurich. It was my go to restaurant for Mexican food 20 years ago and it still is today.
